Mayor Baldelli-Hunt Announces May 15th Willow Street Area Start for Rhode Island Energys City Street Repair Program Following Infrastructure Work

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced today that sections of Woonsocket streets that have undergone recent infrastructure work to gas mains by Rhode Island Energy, will begin to be repaired by their contractor, Hartford Paving, under the direction of the Woonsocket Department of Public Works. This road repair project will begin in the Willow Street area during the week of May 15th, weather permitting, and continue throughout the spring and summer.

Repair work involving milling and paving will include sections of Willow Street, Welles Street, Bennett Street, Paradis Avenue, Roberts Street and Montcalm Street. The schedule for repair work on sections of other streets throughout the City will be announced shortly. Hartford Paving will notify residents with "No Parking" signs and/or message boards (on larger streets) approximately one week ahead of the start of road work.

Mayor Baldelli-Hunt stated, "I am pleased to announce the start of Rhode Island Energys "mill and pave" season for 2023. Maintaining good roads for the enjoyment of our residents, businesses, and visitors has been a hallmark of my administration, and we look forward to working with Rhode Island Energy, our new energy supplier, to ensure they effectively repair sections of roads in which they have recently upgraded their gas mains."

Public Works Director Steve DAgostino stated, "We have high standards for repairing roads in Woonsocket and are happy to hear that Rhode Island Energy is using Hartford Paving, a contractor who has done good work on our streets in the past, for their road repair program this year." DAgostino added, They will be starting road repairs in the Willow Street neighborhood, and we will be announcing the timing for road work in other City areas as soon as we are notified by Hartford Paving.

 

Sections of the roadways involved for milling, and repaving starting the week of May 15th are:

Willow St. Roberts St. to Maple St.

Welles St. # 251-255 Welles St. to Carrington Ave.

Bennett St. Paradis Ave. to Carrington Ave.

Paradis Ave. Roberts St. to Maple St.

Roberts St. Willow St to Carrington Ave.

Montcalm St. Carrington Ave. to #34-36 Montcalm St.

 

Please note that the sections of the above-mentioned roadways will be closed and detoured during RIEs restoration work, and no street parking will be allowed. We apologize for any inconvenience that this roadwork may cause you and request that you plan to minimize disruptions.
