Mayor Baldelli-Hunt Announces Sunday, July 2nd Independence Day Celebration at WWII Veterans Memorial Park with Fabulous Food, Fun, and Fireworks

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt today announced that the City of Woonsockets annual Independence Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, July 2nd (rain date Friday, July 7th) at WWII Veterans Memorial Park. The festivities will begin at 4:00 PM with music provided by two bands, The Live Music Band and The Northeast Groove, and will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display after the playing of the National Anthem at 9:00 PM.

Mayor Baldelli-Hunt stated, "I want to invite the Woonsocket community to join us to commemorate our nation's independence, honor the admirable principles our nation was founded upon, and reflect upon the accomplishments and dreams we still can achieve if we all work together to build a better country. This popular event brings family and friends together in a beautiful outdoor setting to have fun, savor good food, listen to music, and enjoy the best fireworks display in the state."

In recognition of their work in pulling this event together, the Mayor offered a special "thank you" to Superintendent of Parks, Elizabeth Kerrigan, The Department of Public Works headed by Director Steven DAgostino, and Fire Chief Robert Cahill.

Food and dessert Trucks will be available for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the event. We encourage attendees to bring chairs and blankets.

In the event of inclement weather, Woonsocket residents and visitors should tune to local radio stations WOON and WNRI to find out the status of the Independence Day Celebration. The City will also announce a weather-related postponement of the event on its "Code RED" communications alert system.
