Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

Various construction activities will be taking place next week along Route 6 East and Route 10 South including storm drain installation, road widening, and bridge work, which will necessitate daytime lane closures.

Overnight bridge demolition over Amtrak is expected to cause temporary noise and vibration.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

We're making substantial progress on this project as we approach the peak of the construction season.

Now that we've opened a new bridge to Route 146 North from I-95 North, we're in the process of demolishing the old bridge, which will be reconstructed into a ramp for traffic heading to I-95 North from the future Collector Distributor Road that will separate the mainline I-95 North traffic, creating better traffic flow and less congestion.

Overnight construction activity continues site-wide, which includes various road and on-ramp closures for new steel beam placement over active roadways. Motorists should follow signed detours during all closures.

Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

With the new traffic pattern in place for the remainder of the year, construction will focus on repairing the structurally deficient bridge deck that carries traffic on I-195 West. Work also continues on the construction of the future off-ramp to Waterfront Drive from I-195 West.

Expect overnight lane closures taking place on the Washington Bridge next week.

_

Henderson Bridge, East Providence/Providence

With work progressing site-wide, we'll need to close East River Street in Providence to vehicular traffic during the day next week. Motorists should follow the signed detour in place. Access for pedestrians and bicyclists will still be maintained.

Work continues to construct the new bridge over the Seekonk River. Now that all of the steel beams are in place, crews are making progress on the formation of the bridge deck.

Additional work is taking place at what will be the new approach to the bridge in East Providence, with curbing installation and paving for the upcoming roundabout that will eventually allow traffic to enter the new bridge from Massasoit Avenue in East Providence.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

Drainage work will continue along Admiral Kalbfus Road from the roundabout to the Malbone Road intersection. Please drive slowly as construction vehicles will be frequently entering and leaving the work zone along Admiral Kalbfus Road. Commuters for the Navy base can also utilize the new JT Connell roadway south of the roundabout and the Connector Road for an easy alternative access point to the bridge to avoid the Admiral Kalbfus Road work zone. Sidewalks along the north side will be temporarily closed and pedestrians will need to follow signage to avoid the construction area.

Elsewhere along the site, electrical and traffic signal work will be conducted site wide. Rail work may be conducted at times along the Newport Secondary. The bridge rehabilitation work will also continue along Route 138 at the Third Street, Newport Secondary and JT Connell overpasses and may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway as needed.  Flaggers and police details will be onsite to help guide vehicles through the work zone

Route 146, Lincoln/North Smithfield

Construction operations continue project-wide, with work taking place on the I-295 bridges over Route 146, the Sayles Hill Road intersection in North Smithfield, and at the Route 146A interchange.

Motorists can expect overnight lane closures next week from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for multiple operations, including overnight bridge demolition, utility work, road widening, and tree clearing. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work-zone. Follow signed detours.

Broad Street Regeneration, Cumberland

Over the next three weeks, we'll be adjusting utility structures in the roadway from Meeting Street to Forest Avenue in Cumberland.

Final paving and striping in the weeks to follow, motorists should follow signed detours.

Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge, Providence

With the bridge open to two-way traffic, we've be working on its west side to complete the unfinished portion of the structure.

Construction activities include finishing the sidewalks for pedestrian access, and installing safety components such as guardrail and barrier, before moving to the east side of the bridge.
