RIPTA Seeks Public Input on Proposed Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center Passenger Facility

Virtual Public Meeting Will Be Held Wednesday, January 31, 2024

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced today that a virtual public meeting on the proposed Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center passenger facility will be held at 5:30pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. This virtual meeting is an opportunity for the public to submit feedback on the proposed design of this new bus passenger transit facility.

The proposed bus passenger facility will include: public restrooms, driver restrooms, and a break room; a Pawtucket Police sub-station and security office; and an interior waiting area that will include seating, device charging stations, and real-time passenger information screens. RIPTA will also have a customer service presence onsite.

Governor McKee proposed $5 million in funding for this project in his FY23 budget. The funds were approved by the General Assembly.

RIPTA recorded 97,916 passenger trips at the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center from its opening on January 23, 2023 through December 31, 2023.
