PROVIDENCE, RI – Acknowledging the importance of consistent attendance in education and in alignment with the #AttendanceMatters campaign, Governor Dan McKee and Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green are pleased to highlight the top elementary, middle, and high schools with the greatest average weekly attendance, as well as elementary and secondary schools with the greatest improvement in weekly attendance.
The following schools are Rhode Island’s attendance leaders for the week of January 16, 2024:
· Elementary: Myron J. Francis Elementary School, East Providence – 95.5%
· Middle: Barrington Middle School– 95.4%
· High School: Barrington High School – 99.1%
Special recognition is extended to the following schools for demonstrating the most improved average attendance rates from the previous week:
· Elementary: Guiteras Elementary School, Bristol Warren – 7.9%
· Middle: Samuel Slater Middle School, Pawtucket – 3.2%
· High School: Sheila Skip Nowell Leadership Academy – 12%
The Governor and Commissioner express their gratitude and encouragement to all schools in Rhode Island for their ongoing efforts to prioritize attendance and reinforce the value of consistent learning experiences for all students.
