Tourism Council’s 19th Annual Heritage Golf Tournament to tee off on June 24
Get ready to enjoy a day of golfing, socializing and networking with a hundred business leaders at one of Northern Rhode Island’s premiere venues.
The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council’s 19th Annual Heritage Golf Tournament will be held on June 24th at Crystal Lake Golf Club, 100 Broncos Highway in beautiful Burrillville, Rhode Island.
The fee for the tournament is $200player/$750 foursome, which includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, steak dinner, and chances at great prizes. Registration and lunch at the tournament will start at 11:30 AM and participants will begin teeing off at 1 PM in the scramble format tournament.
This event is Blackstone Valley Tourism Council’s major fundraiser for its Blackstone Valley Heritage Environmental Trust Fund used to provide environmental education opportunities for underserved communities.
The premiere program is its RiverClassroom aboard the Explorer. This educational vessel allows the Council to offer students environmental education experiences on the Blackstone River. The hands-on program is designed with STEM practices and environmental literacy guidelines recommended by the National Science Teachers Association.
During the classes, students engage in activities such as: water quality experiments; data collection through the use of a variety of instruments; wildlife observation with binoculars and printed guides; and more. In addition, students learn about pollution in their community and how their behaviors impact water quality as well as the appearance of their community.
The Council provides tours to over 3,000 students per year, but additional funds are needed to meet the requests of more teachers from around Rhode Island’s Blackstone Valley who want to bring their students on the Explorer.
This year’s tournament lead sponsor is Charter Financial Group. To be a sponsor for the tournament, to golf or to donate an item to the raffle, please visit golfblackstone.com or call Amanda Wood at 401-724-2200 x211.
