Road Repairs

The North Smithfield Highway Division will be detouring traffic on Sayles Hill Rd. between Route 146 and Iron Mine Hill Rd. for repair work to the drainage system in the area of Anchor Subaru/Nissan. This work will take place Monday April 30th from 7:00 am. to 3:00 PM. During these hours, the traffic will be limited to traveling one-way on Sayles Hill Rd. from Route 146 to Iron Mine Hill Rd. Any traffic exiting from Route 146 South to Sayles Hill Rd. will be limited to local traffic only during this time.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may create, but with your patience and cooperation we can get this work completed as quickly as possible. There will be a police detail or certified flaggers assigned to this project for the day. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Highway Division at 767-2200, ext. 348.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

North Smithfield's

16th Annual Clean & Green Day

This Saturday, April 28, 2018

Each year we assemble a large group of volunteers from North Smithfield and surrounding towns who have a mutual interest in reducing litter, and thus improving the visual landscape. While litter cleanup is the primary objective of our Clean & Green Day, this event offers additional benefits in promoting anti-litter awareness, recycling and continued education.

Save the date and come April 28th to participate in one of RI's largest community clean-up efforts. This year we plan to see as many as 500 volunteers.

Our "Hands-on cleanup" approach gives volunteers satisfaction in making a difference, as well as a sense of community by joining their neighbors in a much larger town-wide project. The experience often motivates volunteers to learn and do more in the interest of recycling and our environment year-round.

The clean-up provides a great bonding opportunity for families and organizations to help together.  Scout troops and students are able to earn community service hours.

Volunteers can leave comments and questions, or pre-register for the event by using the Clean & Green link available

The Town of North Smithfield has hired Northeast Revaluation Group LLC to conduct a statistical update to bring all real estate in town to fair market value effective December 31,2018 for the July 2019 tax roll. The process is mandatory according to RIGL 44-5-11.6. The law requires these statistical updates every 3 years and a full revaluation every 9 years.

Throughout the project Northeast Revaluation’s staff will be in neighborhoods throughout the town. The company will attempt to physically visit, measure and inspect properties that sold over the last 2 years, which helps in the analysis of determining fair market value. They also will be visiting any properties that have unfinished construction or have taken out building permits recently. All employees are required to carry identification and have their vehicles on file with the assessor’s office and police department. The process will last over the next several months and be completed in the spring of 2019. If there are questions or concerns contact the Assessor, Sarah Frew, 401-767-2200 ext 323 or Northeast Revaluation Group directly at 401-737-0300. Thank you for your patience throughout the process.
