President Trump isn't saying much about potential agreements he may propose during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska today. Speculation has been going around about possible Russia-Ukraine land swaps and whether the U.S. might offer Russia access to rare-earth minerals in exchange for steps toward peace. When pressed for details during a briefing at the White House today, Trump simply responded, "We'll see what happens."        Former President Barack Obama is backing Texas Democrats who left the state to block a Republican redistricting plan. In a virtual meeting Thursday, Obama told the Texas lawmakers that their actions were inspiring others. Obama said, "We can't let a systematic assault on democracy just happen," and "because of your courage, what you've seen is California responding" and "other states looking at what they can do to offset this mid-decade gerrymandering."        A federal judge is halting efforts from the White House to defund schools with DEI programs. On Thursday the judge ruled the Trump administration can't cut federal funding to colleges and other schools that have diversity programs, as it threatened to do earlier this year.        Tropical Storm Erin could soon become a hurricane. Maximum sustained winds hit 70 miles per hour as of the latest update, with the storm expected to become the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season. The National Hurricane Center expects Erin to reach hurricane strength within hours. It's still unclear if Erin will have any impact on the U.S. East Coast.        Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is bringing in eyeballs. Nielsen reports the Browns' win over the Carolina Panthers last weekend set an NFL Network preseason viewership record, with over two-point-two-million tuning in.        Louisiana is suing Roblox [[ ROH-blocks ]], arguing the online game enables sexual predators. The state's attorney general filed the lawsuit Thursday, accusing Roblox of endangering the safety of children. The lawsuit alleges Roblox facilitates and distributes child sex abuse material, and does not warn parents about the dangers it presents to kids.
