Presidential Preference Primary Results

& Elections Integrity Seminar

Registered voters in the city of Woonsocket cast their ballots at 6 polling locations for the Presidential Preference Primary on Tuesday, April 2nd. As of 8:00PM on election night, a total of 803 voters turned out to vote in-person Election Day, another 225 voted by mail and 64 voted early in-person at City Hall. The unofficial results can be found on the RI Board of Elections website at www.elections.ri.gov. Results can be viewed statewide, or results can be viewed by city/town.

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would also like to take this opportunity to notify the public that the Republican and Democratic City Committees will be hosting Secretary of State Gregg Amore and the RI Department of State Elections Division for an Elections Integrity Forum open and free to the public later this month. The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would like to welcome Rhode Islanders to an Elections Integrity Forum hosted by the Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees in conjunction with RI Department of State Elections Division. This event will be held on April 20th, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Woonsocket Education Center located at 115 Main St, Woonsocket.

Attendees will hear from Rhode Island’s chief election official Secretary of State Gregg Amore and his report on the state of elections administration in RI. After a brief presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from state and local election administrators who can share their knowledge of the procedures that dictate how elections are conducted across the state.

This event will be an excellent opportunity for election administrators to better understand their constituents concerns and questions, as well as giving attendees a chance to hear the facts of election administration right from the source. An NBA gambling indictment suggests that leaked injury information about LeBron James was given to bettors. Earlier today, FBI Director Kash Patel announced charges involving an illegal gambling and sports betting scheme linked to current and former NBA players, coaches, and others. Miami Heat player Terry Rozier and former coach and player Damon Jones are accused of using inside information to make wagers on games.        At least half of U.S. states plan to cut off food assistance benefits November 1st due to the ongoing government shutdown. The loss of assistance would affect millions of low-income citizens. Some 25 states are sending out notices to people on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, that the checks won't be coming next month.        The deployment of federal agents to San Francisco is being called off. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said his administration was getting ready to "surge" San Francisco with agents to crackdown on crime and immigration, but friends in the area asked him to not move forward with it. They told him that Mayor Daniel Lurie is making progress in the city and Trump added he spoke to the Mayor last night, who asked him to give him a chance to "turn it around."        The man accused of starting the deadly Palisades Fire is set to be arraigned in downtown Los Angeles soon. Twenty-nine-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht [[ RIN-der-neckt ]] was due in court this afternoon. Rinderknecht was arrested in Florida on October 7th and has since been extradited back to Los Angeles, where he remains behind bars.        President Trump says his administration is working to remove international drug cartels. During a roundtable event on crime at the White House, Trump said he was happy to sign executive orders targeting cartels and noted the recent destruction of narco-terrorist boats in the eastern Pacific.        Week eight of the NFL season kicks off later with Thursday Night Football. The Los Angeles Chargers will host the Minnesota Vikings at SoFi Stadium. The Chargers are four-and-three on the season, while the Vikings are three-and-three.
