Museum of Work & Culture Children’s Baking Workshop Returns

Gingersnaps Bakery Chef Leads Spring Cupcake Decorating Class

 

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – The Museum of Work & Culture, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, will offer its annual Children’s Baking Workshop on Saturday, May 4 at 11am.

 

This year’s event will focus on the themes of the spring season and will feature a ‘bird’s nest cupcake’ decorating demonstration with Gingersnaps Bakery chef and owner Kayla Morris. Participants will also enjoy interactive games such as baking bingo and a guided tour of the museum’s latest permanent exhibit Flowing Through Time: Nature, Industry, and Communities of the Blackstone River, led by museum educators.

 

Each baker will receive a chef's hat, apron, recipe card, pre-printed activity materials, as well as a cupcake and all the necessary decorating supplies from Gingersnaps Bakery.

 

Tickets are $22 and provide entry to one child participant and a parent or guardian. Space is limited and early registration is strongly encouraged. Tickets are available for purchase at rihs.simpletix.org.

 

 

It's been a week now since flood waters took central Texas by surprise, leaving behind death, destruction, misery and questions. At least 120 people have been confirmed dead, including three-dozen children. More than 160 are still missing. Mayor Brandon Scott says officials have not determined the exact source of the overdoses and the incident remains under investigation.        Tesla is expanding its robotaxi service area in Austin, Texas soon. CEO Elon Musk shared news of the expansion on 'X,' and noted that the company is awaiting regulatory approval for a launch in the Bay Area "probably in a month or two." In addition to the expansion, Tesla will integrate xAI's Grok into vehicles as it rolled out a new iteration of the artificial intelligence chatbot. Musk's xAI officially launched the Grok 4 update as the company deals with backlash over recent antisemitic comments written by the chatbot.        "Superman" is already soaring, bringing in more than 21 million dollars in previews as it sets its sights on the weekend box. The James Gunn directed film is hoping to make 120 to 130-million-dollars domestically in its debut weekend.        Larry David is working with the Obamas on a new comedy show. The "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator will be starring in what HBO describes as an "American history sketch comedy series" produced by Higher Ground, the company run by former President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. No title or exact release date has been given.
