Gingersnaps Bakery Chef Leads Spring Cupcake Decorating Class

 

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – The Museum of Work & Culture, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, will offer its annual Children’s Baking Workshop on Saturday, May 4 at 11am.

 

This year’s event will focus on the themes of the spring season and will feature a ‘bird’s nest cupcake’ decorating demonstration with Gingersnaps Bakery chef and owner Kayla Morris. Participants will also enjoy interactive games such as baking bingo and a guided tour of the museum’s latest permanent exhibit Flowing Through Time: Nature, Industry, and Communities of the Blackstone River, led by museum educators.

 

Each baker will receive a chef's hat, apron, recipe card, pre-printed activity materials, as well as a cupcake and all the necessary decorating supplies from Gingersnaps Bakery.

 

Tickets are $22 and provide entry to one child participant and a parent or guardian. Space is limited and early registration is strongly encouraged. Tickets are available for purchase at rihs.simpletix.org.

 

 

An alleged illegal immigrant and a federal marshal are recovering after a shooting in Los Angeles Tuesday. Officials say an ICE officer shot the immigrant while he was attempting to flee immigration agents. Carlitos Ricardo Parias, a TikToker who goes by Richard LA, has been charged with assault on a federal officer, with authorities claiming he tried to ram into the immigration agents with his car. One of the bullets fired by the ICE agent also struck a U.S. marshal assisting in the arrest.        President Trump wants money from the Justice Department for criminally investigating him. Trump says he's owed damages for two investigations: the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election, and the FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago home related to the handling of classified documents. Trump is reportedly seeking 230-million-dollars as compensation.        President Trump will host Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House November 18th. The two leaders met earlier this year when Trump visited the Middle East.        The state of Arizona is suing to force House Speaker Mike Johnson to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva [[ gree-HALL-vuh ]]. The Arizona Democrat won a special election to fill her late father's seat almost a month ago. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said the case is about whether someone duly elected may be denied rightful office, and accuses Johnson of delaying an order to prevent a vote regarding the Epstein files.        Warner Brothers Discovery says it could be up for sale. The company said it was undergoing a "review of potential alternatives" and had received "unsolicited interest from multiple parties" for purchase. The offers have been for both the entire company as well as just Warner Bros. studios and streaming platforms.        A new poll finds nearly one out of ten preschoolers and toddlers don't play outside often. Researchers say playing outside can improve children's mental and physical health. Poll Co-Director Sarah Clark says parents who allow a little more independence often see their child's confidence flourish.
