Today is the Last Day for Individuals to Apply for Disaster Assistance

 

Today is the last day for Rhode Island residents in Kent, Providence or Washington counties affected by the winter storms and flooding to apply for FEMA assistance. They can register at DisasterAssistance dot GOV or call the FEMA help line at 1-800-621-3362.

President Trump plans to raise tariffs on foreign steel. At a rally in Pittsburgh Friday, Trump announced he'd be increasing tariffs to 50-percent. The rally follows the announcement that Japan-based Nippon Steel will be allowed to invest in U.S. Steel. The deal, which Trump has touted in recent days, would effectively merge the two major steel producers while keeping the company's headquarters in Pittsburgh.        The Supreme Court is ruling the Trump administration can end the temporary legal status for hundreds of thousands of immigrants. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had filed an emergency application to end the Biden-era program. The program granted temporary legal status to 532-thousand migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela that allowed them to live and work in the U.S.        President Trump says Elon Musk is one of the best business leaders ever. During an Oval Office farewell, Trump marked Musk's final day on the job as a special government employee. The President praised Musk for his efforts to cut government spending through his work with DOGE, saying he worked tirelessly. Earlier this week, Musk said he was disappointed by Trump's so called one big beautiful bill that passed through the House.        The Securities and Exchange Commission is no longer prosecuting Binance. The crypto exchange platform was accused of operating an unregistered exchange, artificially inflating its trading volume and misleading investors about its surveillance and controls. The dismissal comes as the SEC continues to pull back on enforcement against the digital asset industry under President Trump.        President Trump isn't ruling out pardoning Sean "Diddy" Combs if the rap mogul is convicted in his sex trafficking trial. Trump was asked the question during an Oval Office event today, and paused before saying "First of all, I'd look at what's happening." He then said he hasn't been watching "too closely," adding Combs used to really like him a lot, but when he "ran for office, that relationship busted up." Combs faces life in prison if convicted of sex trafficking and other charges.        It's the third round of the French Open in Paris today. On the Men's side, the match between Americans Frances Tiafoe and Sebastian Korda is underway. On the women's side, American Amanda Anisimova advanced in straight sets today as fellow American Bernarda Pera is also hitting the court.
