Amo Continues Blue Economy Tour with Rhode Island’s Leading Manufacturers

Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District continues by highlighting workers and small businesses in Newport County and the East Bay

 

Providence, RI – Tomorrow, October 22, 2024 at 11:30 AM Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) will continue his Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District with stops at Blue Economy manufacturing companies in Newport County and the East Bay. Congressman Amo will first visit VATN Systems to participate in a demonstration of one of their autonomous underwater vehicles. Then, Congressman Amo will be joined by Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner to visit Flux Marine and engage with their electric boat manufacturing and development. The stop at Flux Marine will conclude with a ride in a boat powered by an all-electric outboard motor.

Federal officials are announcing a cutback in the number of flights in U.S. airspace starting Friday morning. It's a result of staffing shortages during the federal government shutdown. FAA administrator Bryan Bedford announced Wednesday the agency will reduce air traffic by ten percent at 40 high-volume airports if there's no deal to end the shutdown.        At least 11 people are dead and nearly a dozen are hurt following the UPS plane crash in Louisville last night. That's the update from Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear who was at the crash site today. Beshear says there could be more deaths announced soon as the operation has moved from a rescue to a recovery mission.        President Trump is celebrating his one-year mark since punching a ticket to a second term in the White House. While in Miami to discuss his economic agenda, Trump boasted once again that America is "the hottest country in the world" because of his policies. He said the U.S. is getting 21-trillion-dollars of investments this year, largely due to his tariffs.        Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani says he's building a city hall that will deliver on the promises of his campaign. The New York City mayor-elect told reporters today his win represents a new era of government. He announced some officials he's tapping for his transition team and, perhaps future cabinet.        Wall Street is closing with stocks in the green. It comes as the Supreme Court is weighing the legality of President Trump's tariffs. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 225 points to 47-311. The S&P 500 jumped 24 points to 67-96. The Nasdaq gained 151 points to 23-500.        McDonald's is seeing a boost in sales after bringing back some of its fan favorite items. Same-store sales reportedly increased by three-point-six-percent for the July to September period after the Snack Wrap officially returned to U.S. menus, and sales slightly outperformed the three-point-five-percent forecast. The data company Placer.ai also reported that traffic to McDonald's was 15-percent higher than average on the day Snack Wraps officially returned to the menu.
