Amo Continues Blue Economy Tour with Rhode Island’s Leading Manufacturers

Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District continues by highlighting workers and small businesses in Newport County and the East Bay

 

Providence, RI – Tomorrow, October 22, 2024 at 11:30 AM Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) will continue his Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District with stops at Blue Economy manufacturing companies in Newport County and the East Bay. Congressman Amo will first visit VATN Systems to participate in a demonstration of one of their autonomous underwater vehicles. Then, Congressman Amo will be joined by Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner to visit Flux Marine and engage with their electric boat manufacturing and development. The stop at Flux Marine will conclude with a ride in a boat powered by an all-electric outboard motor.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is calling Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem a "stone-cold liar." In a press conference Thursday regarding the fatal shooting of a woman by ICE agents in Minneapolis, Jeffries said the killing was an "abomination." He went on, saying blood is on the hands of the Trump administration officials who have pushed an extreme immigration policy.        Vice President JD Vance has announced a new assistant attorney general position whose sole job will be investigating government fraud across the U.S. Vance told White House reporters today the initial focus of the person will be to investigate the alleged Medicaid fraud in Minnesota and then move nationwide. Vance said this assistant AG will also look into networks of fraud connected to terrorists.        The first of two cross country storms is heading East with millions facing the threat of severe weather and floods. The storm is moving out of the Four Corners region with Missouri and Kansas seeing downpours today, while a tornado has been confirmed in Oklahoma. The system will move through the Midwest throughout today.        President Trump says he may take action soon on the "AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act." While appearing on the Hugh Hewitt show, Trump said the act is very important, and a lot of people don't know a lot about it. The legislation would require all new passenger vehicles to have AM radio as standard equipment, because it's crucial for emergency alerts when other communication systems fail.        NASA says the ISS crew will make an early return to Earth because of a medical situation with one crew member. NASA announced at a news conference Thursday the un-named crew member is stable. The agency had already postponed a spacewalk scheduled for Thursday because of the medical issue.        The College Football Playoff resumes tonight with the first semifinal matchup. Number ten Miami will take on number six Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. The winner will face off in the National Championship against the victor of tomorrow's Peach Bowl between number five Oregon and number one Indiana.
