Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District continues by highlighting workers and small businesses in Newport County and the East Bay

 

Providence, RI – Tomorrow, October 22, 2024 at 11:30 AM Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) will continue his Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District with stops at Blue Economy manufacturing companies in Newport County and the East Bay. Congressman Amo will first visit VATN Systems to participate in a demonstration of one of their autonomous underwater vehicles. Then, Congressman Amo will be joined by Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner to visit Flux Marine and engage with their electric boat manufacturing and development. The stop at Flux Marine will conclude with a ride in a boat powered by an all-electric outboard motor.

A U.S. envoy will be in Moscow next week to negotiate a Ukraine-Russia peace plan. An advisor for Vladimir Putin has confirmed that President Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff will be visiting the Kremlin. The news comes after Ukraine reportedly said it had reached a "common understanding" with the Trump administration on the outline of a possible peace deal.        The FBI wants to interview six Democrats featured in a video encouraging military members to refuse illegal orders. The FBI has reportedly been in contact with Capitol Police to get the interviews scheduled. President Trump has called for the lawmakers involved in the video to be punished.        Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy would like passengers to be a little more courteous as airports brace for a busy holiday season. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Duffy called on the public to "maybe dress a little better, which encourages us to maybe behave all a little better." Duffy emphasized the importance of being well dressed and added, "let's try not to wear slippers and pajamas as we come to the airport."        The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says lower prices are coming on 15 prescription drugs covered by Medicare, including Ozempic and Wegovy. The cuts were made through the Biden-era Inflation Reduction Act and will start in 2027. Another round of price cuts on ten drugs, including some for heart disease and diabetes, is expected to take effect next year.        The FAA is investigating Amazon after one of its delivery drones snapped an internet cable in Central Texas. The incident reportedly happened last week when an Amazon drone was dropping off a package in Waco, and one of its propellers got tangled up in a cable line.        OpenAI says ChatGPT is getting chattier. The AI system now has its voice mode embedded inside the chatbot, so users no longer need to switch between the text mode and the voice mode. And written answers will appear along with the audio.
