On October 24, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Trista Thivierge with one count of child endangerment.

 

The alleged act occurred in the Town of Bristol on or about April 12, 2024. The Bristol Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 13, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Jhonatan Cadima Huayta (age 21)

On October 24, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jhonatan Cadima Huayta with one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of simple assault.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the Town of Johnston on or about January 25, 2024. The Johnston Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 13, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

Yohan Perez Chala (age 39)

On October 24, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Yohan Perez Chala with one count of possession of more than one kilogram of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (fentanyl).

 

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on or about May 30, 2024. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 13, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton has surrendered and will make an appearance at a Maryland federal court soon. Bolton was indicted yesterday on federal charges related to alleged mishandling of classified documents. A vocal critic of Trump, Bolton says that the indictment is politically motivated.        Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive at the White House soon to meet with President Trump. It's part of Trump's ongoing effort to end the years-long Russia-Ukraine war. On Thursday, Trump said he had a "very productive" phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and told reporters the two will be meeting in Hungary soon.        The Senate isn't scheduled to hold a vote on a spending measure today as the federal government shutdown stretches to 17 days. Yesterday's vote was the tenth time lawmakers have attempted to pass the legislation that's Republican-backed and has already made it through the House. Democrats continue to hold firm in wanting to see healthcare subsidies preserved.        Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani is appealing to New York City renters. In the first debate ahead of next month's mayoral election, Mamdani said if voters think their rent is too low then they should vote for former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Since the primaries, Cuomo has been attacking Mamdani for living in a rent stabilized apartment - and proposing to change applicable laws.        A volcano in Hawaii is expected to erupt in the coming days. Kilauea [[ key-lo-ay-uh ]] is on Hawaii's Big Island and has been erupting on and off since last December, with the last eruption ending on October 1st after spewing lava for about six straight hours. The Hawaii Volcano Observatory says it's about to erupt again sometime between now and the middle of next week.        The Las Vegas Aces will celebrate their third WNBA title today. The team's championship parade is going down one week after the Aces swept the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals. The Aces, with the help of 2025 WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson, secured their third championship in four years.
