Last month's inflation report is better than expected. July numbers out today from the Labor Department show the consumer price index, a general measure of how much people are paying for goods and services and a key inflation indicator, was up two-tenths of a percent from June. That's about a tenth of a percent less than what analysts were expecting.        President Trump's federal takeover over Washington, D.C. police and the use of National Guard troops may only last a month. The emergency authority that the President exercised under the DC Home Rule Act will expire in 30 days unless Congress approves an extension. Trump plans to ask Republican lawmakers to make other changes to DC laws, including the elimination of cashless bail.        A shooting at a Target in Austin has left three people dead. Officers arrived to the store to find three people shot in the parking lot, with the suspect then hijacking a car. He crashed, then hijacked another car, before being captured and tased.        Tropical Storm Erin is expected become a major hurricane in the next few days. The storm is currently churning in the eastern Atlantic Ocean after forming just west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The National Hurricane Center said Monday afternoon that Erin's maximum sustained winds were at 45 miles-per-hour.        Two people are dead and at least ten others were injured after an explosion at a steel factory near Pittsburgh yesterday. Five are in critical but stable condition, while the other five were treated at a hospital and released. The cause of the explosion at the Clairton Coke Works is being investigated.        Baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani and his agent are being sued, accused of sabotaging a 240-million-dollar luxury housing development project on Hawaii's Big Island. The lawsuit was filed by a real estate developer and a real estate broker. They claim Ohtani got them fired from working on the development that the pair had brought him in to endorse.
