RIPTA Service to Run Holiday Schedule in Observance of Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2024

 

Veterans Ride Free on Veterans Day with Valid ID

 

Providence, Rhode Island - The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will offer free service on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2024, to all Rhode Island veterans with proof of eligibility. Veterans must show a veterans identification card or a driver’s license with a “V” on it when boarding in order to ride at no charge.

 

All passengers are reminded that RIPTA services will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Veterans Day.

 

Flex Service

RIPTA Flex Routes will not operate on Veterans Day except for Flex Route 203 (URI/Narragansett/South Kingstown) which will operate from 10am to 5pm. The Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) will not be staffed on the holiday.  However, passengers can schedule their 203 Flex reservation using the Flex On Demand mobile app. Visit RIPTA.com/FlexOnDemand for more information.

 

RIde Paratransit Program

On Monday, November 11, the RIde Program will operate on a holiday schedule. The RIde program does not provide standing order trips (recurring service) on RIPTA holidays. If you need a ride on the holiday, please call the RIde reservation line (401-461-9760) before November 11 to schedule a trip. The RIde reservation line will not be staffed on Veterans Day. 

 

RIPTA Offices

RIPTA offices and the Kennedy Plaza Ticket Window will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of the holiday. The RIPTA Customer Service Kiosk in the Newport Transportation Center will be open on Monday, November 11 from 8am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.

President Trump says Volodymyr Zelensky has "been through a lot." Trump welcomed the Ukrainian President to the White House on Friday, as part of Trump's ongoing effort to end the years-long Russia-Ukraine war. Zelensky told reporters there is some momentum in the current talks. Trump said he had a "very productive" phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin yesterday and told reporters the two will be meeting in Hungary soon.        Former national security adviser John Bolton has pleaded not guilty to federal charges. Bolton appeared in court in Maryland earlier today after being indicted on 18 counts related to alleged mishandling of classified documents. Bolton, who served in the first Trump administration, says the indictment is politically motivated. No trial date has been set.        It's Day 17 of the federal government shutdown. The Senate failed again yesterday to pass a temporary spending measure to reopen things. Democrats say they won't vote for any bill that doesn't address healthcare. House Speaker Mike Johnson warned this week the shutdown may become the longest in history.        The U.S. is holding survivors of a strike on a suspected drug boat in Caribbean waters. According to multiple reports, two survivors are being held on a Navy ship. Venezuela says six people were killed in the latest U.S. airstrike against suspected drug boats.        Four games are on tap in college football tonight. Number two Miami will host Louisville in ACC battle at 7 p.m. eastern. In a Big Ten clash, Minnesota will welcome in Nebraska at 8 p.m. Later, San Jose State will take on Utah State at 9 p.m. At 10:30 p.m., California will play host to North Carolina.        The summer horror film "Weapons" is coming to HBO Max just in time for Halloween. Zach Cregger's film has made more than 260-million-dollars globally and is set to be available for streaming on October 24th. "Weapons" depicts the story of a community that is left puzzled after all but one child from the same classroom mysteriously vanish on the same night at the same time.
