Authorities say the suspect behind yesterday's Catholic school shooting was a former student there. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara added the shooter's mom worked at Annunciation Church. Two kids, ages eight and ten, were killed, and 15 kids and three adults were wounded. O'Hara said it appears the suspect purchased the weapons used legally, and had no prior criminal charges.        The CDC Director has been relieved of her role by the White House. HHS announced Susan Monarez was no longer the agency's director yesterday and at first she refused to leave the post. Her lawyers said it was due to her being a person of integrity and devoted to science, while also adding she was targeted after clashing with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over vaccine policy.        The Labor Day travel period is underway. According to Triple-A, the best times to drive to and from your Labor Day destination are Friday before noon, Saturday between 6 and 10 a.m., Sunday before 11 a.m., and Monday before noon. Gas prices are around the lowest level since 2020.        The White House says the governor of Illinois should ask for help with crime in Chicago. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Chicago's crime rate is Governor JB Pritzker's legacy. President Trump has talked about possibly conducting a similar crime crackdown in Chicago like the one in Washington, D.C.        The CDC has issued a food safety alert over Salmonella infections linked to recalled eggs. The federal health agency says 95 people from 14 states have gotten sick from the same strain of Salmonella. Eighteen people have been hospitalized but the CDC says no deaths have been reported. Country Eggs, based in California, recalled its Large Brown Cage Free "Sunshine Yolks" eggs on Wednesday.        College Football's week one is about to begin. Number 25 Boise State will head down to Tampa to take on South Florida in the first game of the day. Rutgers will play host to Ohio and NC State will welcome in East Carolina for an in state battle. Later, Nebraska will take on Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
