The Woonsocket Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning just after midnight. Officers were dispatched to the area outside of 156 Logee St for one report of gun shots. Upon arrival and a canvass of the area, officers located a 33 year old male Woonsocket resident behind a nearby address. The male was suffering from a gunshot wound. Rescue was immediately dispatched and subsequently transported the man to Rhode Island Hospital. The victim has undergone emergency surgery. We believe his condition is critical.
No one else was injured. No arrests have been made at this time. Detectives are actively investigating this incident. At this time, this is all of the information were able to release. As information we’re able to release becomes available, we will do so. Thank you.

A federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration acted illegally when it froze more than two-billion dollars in grant money to Harvard University. The judge sided with Harvard, which argued the move was retaliation after it refused demands to cut DEI programs, address antisemitism, and screen international students. The ruling voids the freeze and bars the administration from enforcing it.
