Salute to Spring at the Museum of Work & Culture

 

(WOONSOCKET, R.I.) – The Museum of Work & Culture’s 23rd annual Salute to Spring~Bonjour Printemps event will take place on Sunday, April 3, at 1:30pm, and will celebrate Franco-American culture. 

The program will welcome back popular Franco-American singer and songwriter Josée Vachon in concert. Ticket holders can sample poutine throughout the afternoon with Friskie Fries, Red’s, and Bonetown Burgers & BBQ’s food trucks on-site serving the French-Canadian dish of french fries, gravy and cheese curds. Pastries prepared by Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery will also be served.

The afternoon will also feature a performance by the Good Living Band, as well the presentation from independent scholar Jeanne Douillard, “Silent Presence - The French in New England,” in which she will take a fresh look at the complex, hidden story of her people in the Americas.

Guests will also have the opportunity to take part in creating a giant 25th anniversary mural for the museum that will be on display in the museum’s gallery. The afternoon will conclude with the culmination of the museum’s annual raffle, with 30 gift certificates to area restaurants and entertainment venues, as well as the announcement of the winner of the 6th annual Poutine Indulgence.

Family members of the man charged in the fire attack on Israeli hostage supporters in Colorado are now in ICE custody. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the wife and five children of Mohamed Soliman have been taken into custody. They are being processed for expedited removal, as Soliman is here illegally from Egypt.        Elon Musk is sharing criticism of President Trump's so-called "Big Beautiful Bill." In a post on X Tuesday, Musk called the bill "a disgusting abomination." White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump already knows where Musk stood on the bill.        The Department of Justice is investigating the list of people given pardons by former President Biden. It comes as concerns rise about Biden's state of mind while serving his final months in office. Pardon attorney Ed Martin will reportedly lead the reviews to see if staffers took advantage of the former President.        A witness in the Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial says Diddy paid big money to hide a video allegedly showing him brutally assaulting Cassie Ventura. Los Angeles hotel security supervisor Eddy Garcia said today that Diddy gave him a paper bag containing 100-thousand dollars in cash for what he believed was the only video showing him attacking his ex. Garcia added that Diddy feared he would be ruined if the video got out.        Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is launching her bid to lead the House Oversight Committee. Crockett is pitching herself as a fresh face to take on the GOP majority and said Democrats need to do more to take credit for their wins rather than letting them be weaponized by Republicans. The congresswoman issued a dear colleague letter which reads in part, "our country is in an existential crisis driven by an out-of-control executive with a flagrant disregard for our Constitution."        A problem with X appears to be over. The Downdector website showed thousands of outages on the social media news site. Content did not appear to be loading on personal and major news and information sites.
