Central Falls - Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is excited to announce that due to the popularity of our annual fall train trip to Putnam, CT on October 21, a history train excursion has been added for Saturday, October 28th.

 

The  2-hour train ride departs from Woonsocket, RI at 9 am and travels through the Blackstone River Valley and Worcester, MA on the way to Putnam, CT for an afternoon filled with fun! Plus, the Tourism Council has  partnered with historian Barbara Zdravesky to create a tour booklet that includes informative history of the cities and towns along the route to enjoy at your leisure.

 

Upon arrival at the destination, there will be time to explore rural Putnam, CT and discover  amazing antiquing spots, acclaimed local restaurants, art galleries, craft beer, historic sites and much more! You’ll be there just in time to check out the giant sandcastle & scarecrow display along the Quinebaug River at Rotary Park, too! The train will depart Putnam, CT at 2:30 PM for return back to Woonsocket, RI at 4:30 PM.

Hundreds of anti-ICE protesters are gathering once again in downtown Los Angeles. Several roads are closed surrounding the Los Angeles Federal Building, the spot where most of the protesters are gathering. The Los Angeles Police Department announced that the city is going on "Tactical Alert," meaning officers can be kept on past their shift end time and transferred between divisions.        California's Attorney General is suing the Trump administration over the National Guard being deployed. Rob Bonta called President Trump's order "unlawful" and said the president is trying to "manufacture chaos and crisis on the ground for his own political ends." He said the state is asking for a court to put a stop to the "unprecedented order."        Millions from the Gulf Coast up to the Northeast are being impacted by severe weather. It comes after deadly weather hit parts of Georgia and Mississippi over the weekend, with a tornado being reported in Oklahoma. Today, heavy winds and potential tornadoes may be seen in areas of the Ohio Valley and Northeast, while thunderstorms are possible in the Southeast from the Gulf Coast to the Tennessee Valley.        An ex-girlfriend of Sean "Diddy" Combs says she worried about him using his cell phones to take explicit videos of her because others could access them. The woman who is only being identified as "Jane" was back on the stand in Combs' sex trafficking trial. Last week she claimed he forced her to have sex with three male escorts back-to-back while he watched.        The suspect in last night's live streamed shooting on the Las Vegas Strip that left two people dead is now facing charges. Las Vegas police say Manuel Ruiz turned himself in today. The shooting happened near the Bellagio Fountains with video showing a gunman firing shots during what seems to be a confrontation.        WWE Wrestlemania is officially returning to Las Vegas for a second straight year. Allegiant Stadium will host Wrestlemania 42 on April 18th and 19th of 2026. The stadium hosted Wrestlemania 41 this past April, drawing nearly 125-thousand fans in two nights.
