On Saturday June 1st from 2-3pm the library will host their very first Lego Challenge!  There will be two age groups. Ages 6-12 and ages 13-17. Both will compete at the same time but in different areas of the same room. The creations will be judged separately allowing families to participate simultaneously. A maximum of 8 children from each category will compete in 3 rounds. Each round will have a new surprise topic and 10 minutes to build their creation.

 

Creations will be judged by participants, staff and volunteers.

Winners will receive a mini Lego Kit.

Officials say the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk was not a student at Utah Valley University. Taylor Robinson was currently a third-year student at a technical college and attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021. The Utah resident had no prior criminal record. Utah Governor Spencer Cox said Robinson's family reports the 22-year-old had become more political in recent years. Robinson told his family Kirk was coming to Utah Valley University and added that he believed Kirk was full of hate and he didn't like him.        President Trump is planning to deploy National Guard troops to Memphis. In an interview on Fox News this morning, the President said, "Memphis is deeply troubled." He said he made the decision to go to Memphis after being told about the city's crime rate by someone on the board of FedEx. Trump said he will send in the "National Guard and anybody else we need" and that the military will be brought in if needed.        An alleged illegal immigrant is dead after a confrontation with ICE in the Chicago area. Authorities say Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez was fatally shot while resisting arrest during a vehicle stop part of Operation Midway Blitz. According to authorities, Villegas-Gonzalez dragged an officer as he fled in his car. Villegas-Gonzalez was pronounced dead at a local hospital while the officer was severely injured and is now in stable condition.        President Trump is predicting a Zohran Mamdani victory in the New York City mayor's race. In an interview on Fox News Friday morning, Trump said while he hasn't followed the polling closely, "it would look like he's going to win." He went on to criticize the quality of Mamdani's opponents, taking shots at both former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa. Trump also mentioned the potential leverage he may have over Mamdani if he gets elected, saying Mamdani "has to come to Washington for money."        President Trump will pay respects to the late Queen Elizabeth the Second when he travels to the UK next week. The President and first lady Melania Trump are set to arrive in London on Tuesday, and will be guests of King Charles at Windsor Castle. During the three-day visit, Trump will lay a wreath at the Queen's tomb, and will meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.        The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday. This year's nominations are dominated by Apple TV-Plus and HBO. The Apple TV-Plus sci-fi thriller series "Severance" leads the field with 27 nominations including nods for Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Over at HBO, the Batman spinoff series "The Penguin" racked up 24 nominations and "The White Lotus" earned 23.
