There are still no signs of the government shutdown ending as it stretches into day 22. That makes it the second-longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Senate Democrats refuse to vote for a House funding resolution unless it extends health insurance subsidies used by over 20-million people.        The defense for the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk wants a judge to strike a recent response from prosecutors in the case. The motion concerns Tyler Robinson's request to appear in court in civilian clothing without restraints, arguing that inmate attire could bias the jury. The defense claims the prosecution is improperly representing the Utah County Sheriff's Office rather than fulfilling its own duties.        The White House is denying a report that suggested President Trump is considering commuting Sean "Diddy" Combs' sentence. The famous rapper is currently serving four years in prison on prostitution related convictions in New York. A White House official shot down the TMZ report, telling NBC there is no truth to it. TMZ says it stands by its story.        Senator Jeff Merkley is protesting President Trump with a marathon speech on the Senate floor. The Oregon Democrat is slamming the administration for deploying federal authorities in American cities. He's also displayed a sign that reads "Ring the alarm bells: Authoritarianism is here now!"        The Secret Service says there was no threat to President Trump after a man crashed into a White House security gate late last night. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. local time on the southwest side of the White House grounds. Officials haven't said if the crash was intentional.        The NBA season is now underway. The Oklahoma City Thunder beat Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets 125-124 in a double overtime thriller in the first game of the season last night. Elsewhere, Jimmy Butler's 31 points helped lead the Golden State Warriors to a 119-109 win over the LeBron-less Lakers in Los Angeles.
