Good afternoon

Starting tonight, Friday, May 5, we’re conducting a series of weekend lane closures to pave parts of the 6/10 interchange in Providence. Henderson Bridge, East Providence/Providence

The weekday closure of East River Street, from Waterman Street to Angell Street, remains for bridge deck formwork. Please follow signed detour. Additional bridge work requires alternating one-way traffic across a small (500-foot) section of the Henderson Bridge, weekdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Various ramps within the I-95/Exit 37 (Downtown, Routes 6/10) interchange, lanes along I-95 North and South, and portions of Route 6 East and West will be closed overnight. This will allow us to do formwork for the new bridge deck. Overnight demolition, with noise anticipated, continues for retaining wall construction between Park Street and I-95 North. During the day, we also need to close portions of Park Street and Charles Street. Follow signed detours during all closures. Next weekend, we’re planning a traffic shift on I-95 North at Exit 38 to shift traffic off the old and onto the new bridge to Route 146 North. Stay tuned.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

The road to nowhere is gone. Starting last Friday night, we were able to demolish, remove and clear the old Route 138 structure in just under 24 hours, reopening the road to traffic more than an entire day ahead of schedule. Thanks to the motoring public and the local community for their patience throughout this process.

Next week, motorists can expect alternating lane closures for curb and sidewalk installation as well as electrical work at the America’s Cup Avenue and Farewell Street intersection. Excavation will continue along JT Connell Highway and Admiral Kalbfus Road with lane closures and shifts along Admiral Kalbfus Road. The bridge rehabilitation work will also continue along Route 138 at the Third Street, Newport Secondary and JT Connell overpasses and may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway.  Flaggers and police details will be onsite to guide vehicles through the work zones.

Route 146, Lincoln/North Smithfield

Overnight bridge demolition and utility work involve lane closures within the project area on I-295 and Route 146 in Lincoln. Overnight utility work on Sayles Hill Road West in North Smithfield requires its closure Sunday-Thursday nights. Please follow signed detours. Road construction will also take place weekdays on Route 146, from Route 146A to Route 104, and on Route 146A at the Spring Brook Bridge, with alternating lane and shoulder closures respectively.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

We’re starting a series of extended weekend lane closures to pave parts of the 6/10 interchange tonight. From May 5-8, motorists can expect one lane on Route 10 North from Union Avenue to the Harris Avenue/Tobey Street bridge and a right lane closure on Route 6 East, from the Plainfield Street on-ramp to the Broadway off-ramp.

Next week, we need to detour Harris Avenue northbound traffic to install curb and sidewalks, weekdays from 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Access will remain for large trucks and southbound traffic will not be affected. Other operations will involve alternating lane closures on Route 10 South, from the Westminster Street overpass to Union Avenue and Route 6 East, from the 6/10 merge to Broadway. These include installing storm drainage at the Union Avenue off-ramp from Route 10 South, structural steel on the Route 6 East Viaduct, bridge fence at the Tobey Street/Harris Avenue bridge, and precast median barrier at the Broadway exit from Route 6/10 North.  Overnight demolition of the former Route 6 East to Route 10 South ramp over Amtrak continues Sunday-Friday nights. Noise is anticipated.
