The goal of this project is the construction of a green infrastructure parkway. This project is to conduct a road diet and transform an underutilized public road into a new, linear park providing a number of co-benefits to the City’s residents and businesses by removing 1.5 of the road’s travel lanes and converting that unused paved surface into a linear, green infrastructure park, complete with native species plantings and human-scale lighting that complements the existing, adjacent Blackstone River Bikeway. These native landscape elements would be used to treat stormwater while providing direct and indirect recreational, economic, and public health benefits to the City and its Environmental Justice communities.
